Linked to the British Journal of Cardiology (BJC), Arrhythmia Watch supports the objectives of Chapter 8 of the Coronary Heart Disease National Service Framework (NSF), enabling the NHS to “deliver the highest quality of care to people whose lives are affected by arrhythmias”. Cardiac arrhythmia affects over 700 000 people in England alone. Atrial fibrillation is the commonest arrhythmia. Affecting up to 10% of the very elderly, it carries a five-fold increase in ischaemic stroke and the needs and challenges of anticoagulation. There are approximately 100 000 sudden cardiac deaths each year in the UK, the substantial majority attributable to coronary heart disease.
Arrhythmia Watch carries constantly updated news and views on all aspects of cardiac electrophysiology and devices, commentary of landmark clinical trials, congresses and symposia reports, journal club and archive, on-line correspondence, e-learning, and diary of CRM meetings worldwide.
