Atrial Fibrillation Association
The first one-stop comprehensive online resource about atrial fibrillation (AF) is now available for medical professionals, as announced recently by the Atrial Fibrillation Association. HeartofAF.org highlights national, European and American guidelines, along with contributions from international arrhythmia specialists.
Deputy CEO of the AFA, Jo Jerrome, says there is a vital need for relevant and up to date information to be easily accessed by all those involved in AF management and provision: “Insufficient diagnosis and ineffective treatment for people with AF is largely due to lack of understanding about this arrhythmia; both in the medical and public arenas. Information is available but until now it was sporadic and not easily accessible for physicians with an interest in AF.”
“HeartofAF.org is the AF central library for resources. From presentations to studies, news to professional development, case studies, films, business models and dedicated areas for primary care and nurse-led clinics. This interactive forum shares and engages, linking up healthcare professionals working in the complex field of AF.”
Jo Jerrome (CEO, Atrial Fibrillation Association)
“While AF may not be life-threatening the consequences can be – or at the very least, significantly life-changing. AF-related stroke is more debilitating and more likely to cause death, while increased risk of depression, heart failure and dementia are all frequent and serious complications of AF. By equipping medical professionals to a vast library of information on how to detect and manage AF, we could prevent many factors associated with it; saving money, saving misery and maintaining quality of life.’’
