World Heart Rhythm Week
The annual, international World Heart Rhythm Week (WHRW) will be held from the sixth to the twelfth of June 2011 by the Arrhythmia Alliance, encouraging global awareness of heart rhythm disorders and sudden cardiac death.
The Arrhythmia Alliance will highlight their ‘Know Your Pulse’ initiative to raise arrhythmia awareness amongst the general public in the UK. WHRW will also feature a European campaign to place life-saving equipment such as Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in every community in Europe.
Last year, more than 300 international organisations supported the annual Arrhythmia Alliance event, highlights including:
- A European survey on public perception and use of pulse checks
- Online and iPhone-based application guiding users on how to take their pulse
- International media coverage for the ‘Know Your Pulse’ campaign and supporters’ activities
- Lucas Radebe led a world record in the number of people taking their pulse at any one time
