New ‘Engagement and Experience’ guidelines for GP consortia
The NHS Institute and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) have recently joined together to form the RCGP Centre for Commissioning. They have developed a ‘Rough Guide to Engagement and Experience for GP Consortia’ on the emerging national framework governing patient interaction.
The guide encourages shared decision making and a commissioning cycle informed by patient experience, providing several case studies with best-practice examples.
The Centre for Commissioning has also produced a short film setting out the case for patient and public engagement, featuring interviews with Clare Gerada (Chair of RCGP) and others who have carried out specific work in this area from general practice and across the NHS.
